Sutton & Cheam

Tonight, we were at the British Sugarcraft Guild meeting in Sutton & Cheam where Frankie was demonstrating from her Twenty to Make Sugar Birds book which was published in 2011.

During the demonstration she made a Peacock, A Christmas Robin (a little bit early, that one!), a tiny penguin, a Rooster, a duck and a hummingbird. The models, which were all given names by the ladies (Derek the duck, Peter Penguin and Percy Peacock to name a few!) were then given away in the raffle at the end of the evening.

Doreen and Joan gave us a wonderful welcome as well as a cup of tea and a biscuit and some of the ladies came some distance to see the demonstration.

Thank you all.

Whitstable

This week we were in Whitstable at the Sugarcraft club there run by Beryl and her wonderful ladies who always make us feel welcome. I say always, because we are there fairly often as we are quite local, but they never seem to tire of Frankie’s work. It was great to see old friends like Sue, Laine and Alison and tea was provided with a smile and a biscuit -  it was nice to catch up on some news.

Tonight Frankie demonstrated some pieces from her new book Sensational Sugar Animals, published in January this year. The animals shown were a cat (modelled on our own tabby, Riamh) a Meer Cat and a sheep, with Frankie illustrating how to make life like renditions of the animals.

St James's Place

Frankie begins her introduction

Frankie was asked recently if she would run a cupcake class for the clients of some of the consultants of St James's Place - the Financial Advisers - at Scotney Castle. The Company didn't really know who she was at the time, but when I spoke to the organiser, Raksha, she was inordinately pleased with her choice. She was so pleased that she had found an author, demonstrator, movie edible prop-maker and experienced Sugar crafter.

By all accounts the ladies (and some gentlemen) had an enjoyable morning making buttercream toppings and Sugar paste icings for their cakes - taking home the decorated cakes at lunchtime, some with ducks, easter chicks and bunnies - for their families to share.
